Citadel Colour Technical: Contrast Medium
Turn any Contrast paint into a smoother glaze or a lighter tint — without losing that signature “flows into recesses” behavior.
 
What it does
Dilutes Contrast paints properly (reduces intensity while keeping the same self-levelling / recess shading feel).
Helps you create glazes and softer transitions using your favourite Contrast colours.
Water-based medium designed for miniature painting workflows.
 
How to use
Put a little Contrast paint on a palette.
Mix in Contrast Medium (start around 1:1 to soften the colour, then adjust).
Apply like you would Contrast: load the brush, smooth it on, let it settle—don’t overwork it while drying.
Repeat thin coats to build the exact saturation you want.
Best for: Smoother Contrast coats on large panels, controlled glazing, tinting highlights, and “making Contrast behave” when you need more subtle color.
