AK Weathering Pencil – Light Chipping for Wood (AK10027)

A lighter wood tone for fresh scratches, worn edges, and highlighted grain. Light Chipping for Wood is perfect for making chips pop—especially when used after darker wood tones to create realistic depth.

What it does

  • Adds believable fresh wood scratches and edge wear

  • Highlights raised grain and worn plank edges

  • Works as a “second step” over Dark Chipping for Wood for layered realism

How to use

  • Apply on a matte surface on edges, raised grain, and scratch points.

  • Blend slightly with a damp brush to soften the transition into surrounding wood.

  • Combine with darker tones in recesses for a natural worn-wood contrast.

Best for
Crates and barrels, wooden terrain, doors, scaffolding, fences, ship boards, medieval and fantasy scenery.

Key details
Water-based • Highly controllable • Blendable with water • Easy cleanup • Best results on matte finishes.

ChalkyDot Tip
Do fewer light chips than you think—fresh scratches should be the “highlight,” not the main color.
